Japan in 3 parts -part 1

Japan, everyone knows something about this country, like the fact that it's far far away, even further than US&A or CHINA and they have strange
language and even more strange letters. They also smile all the time.

I decided to write about something you surely didn't know, and probably wouldn't even imagine theres something like this.
So, let's start my first post with dogs and cats.

Japan love dogs, that's for sure! They are willing to spend large amounts of money on them.
The number of dogs in Japan has doubled to more than 13 million in the past decade – actually there are fewer children under 12 then dogs in Japan.

Ok, but as you probably know, Japanese people are usually very busy, and don't have enough time for dogs. In such case, they could rent dog in “pet rental” (i'm not saying if it's good or bad).
It's probably hard to bealive, but renting animals (from an hour to several days) became very popular.
The number of companies renting pets in Tokyo, increased from 17 in 2000 to about 135 at present.
Another thing that you can do for your dog is buy him some clothes. It's surely more common in Japan than in Warsaw;)

There was even fashion show with dogs in Tokyo at the weekend during the New Year Dog Party.
Kumi Shiraishi, the producer of the event said:
“As our population is declining, fewer women are having babies, more people are working and many people feel lonely. As a result, a pet dog is the perfect companion. Sooner or later, the number of pet dogs will be higher than the number of children. That is how much Japan loves its dogs."

In Japan there's even PET TV with a program called “POCHI TAMA”
http://www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/pochitama/ I don't know if it's for dogs or about them:)

Ringtones for dogs are not a joke, you can read about it here ;)

Q: What do you think about it? What does your cat wear? ;) Is it funny or sad?

  1. I think that people who wears their pets are crazy.. the same as people who are going with their pupils to dog hair dresser. I can not understand for what they are doing it..

  2. They are definitely a bit crazy, but it's positive crazy. My vote is: funny.

  3. A&Szymon: This all is madness but some breeds need hair dresser for the same reason as you (unless you are like Edek).

    Jakub:

  4. We can all agree that Japanese are crazy. With their cloths, TV shows, pets and everything. I definitely want to visit Japan and I'm planning to do this next year. But if I would live there, I would surely went nuts.

  6. To be honest ... it is weird. When I see photos like that I always ask myself. Why do we live in world where humans are more warm-hearted to animals than to others humans?

  7. Because people are evil and sometimes (sometimes it's often) even more stupid

  8. Andrzej: So you are evil to?

  10. I disagree that it is positive and funny to torture the animals by dressing them or renting like a toy from rental companies - it is really cruel - animals have a fillings and we shouldn't treat them like a things!!!!

  11. My first impression after reading this topic was definitely negative. I thought that treating animals like toys is not ethical and that people have to be very bored and suborned to engage in such attractions. My second impression was completely different and twisted all the way around. I analyzed this topic for a while and thought to myself: why not? I think that buying clothes for animals, taking care of them in a certain way, taking them to beauty saloons, baby sitting them and buying them special food is in a sense like taking care of a child. On the other hand it is less responsible then taking care of a child. Isn’t buying a dog first step in the marriage? The second step is usually having a baby. I think that it is better to love animals to much then to kill and be cruel to them like it happens in other countries. I do not dress my dog, but I will not criticize Japan for their culture. I think it is unique.

  12. As long as Japanese people don’t hurt their pets and produce the best car engines in the world, it’s fine for me.

  13. It's so Japanish. They love such "modifications" to live and they're proud of it ;) As long as animals aren't hurt with such things, it's OK with me too.

  14. I think same as everybody ... until animals aren't hurt with such things its OK to "pimp" them a bit ;]
